MY EXPRESS HUB
PROCESS: Define the needs, ideate, wireframes in Sketch, and prototype
ROLE: UX Designer
TIME: August 2017 - November 2017
CHallenge
To create a "My EXPRESS" experience for customers within the Express native app (iOS and Android) interface. This will provide customers with a single location to view and engage with the Express brand promotions and their earned rewards. This will replace current offers, promotions and My Account.
SOLUTION
- Brainstorm user needs and create an app map of where features need to be.
- Created user stories.
- Ideate, sketch and wireframe possible solutions for the main hub.
- Prototype to see the interaction design and iterate from feedback.
RESULTS
Launched MY EXPRESS in early November where users can engage with the brand and access their rewards in a central location.

defining the needs
My Express in App
This document was created in order to define what needs to be designed in order the give the user a seamless experience. With both a logged out and logged in view, it will offer two similar experiences with the ultimate goal of enticing the user to become a member.
Competitive research
Looking at other apps
Researching direct competitors or apps that have good information architecture was worth looking at so we could see what they are doing well or incorrectly. With this research in hand, we moved forward to sketching and wireframes.
Wireframes
After discussing with product and sketching out a few ideas, wireframes were created. Having a quick overview and quick access to everything in one view was highly prioritized so the scrollable ribbon was implemented. Some features that currently existed on the app such as messages were kept the same in order to keep the project aligned with timelines. When version one of the wireframes were presented, good feedback was received and iterations were made after encountering some implications such as native gesture swiping.
Wires version 2
An issue that we encountered was the scrollable ribbon and the gesture to swipe the rewards and offers carousel. To accommodate for this issue, an inline cards view was designed and a "view more" call to action was added. An international user view was also created for anyone using the app outside of usability. For the international view, the points summary was removed since it does not apply to them.
FINAL SCREENS
Currently live in the Apple Store and Google Play Store
We worked closely with the visual team to make sure the experience was carried out as planned. Prototypes were also created during the design process to show micro interactions and flows.
